LEARN THE LAND AND WILD FOODS OF SPRING

29 March @ 10:30 am - 1:00 pm

Immerse yourself in the beauty of different habitats as George unravels the secrets of fantastic seasonal foods and medicinal treasures. Foraging, a transformative way to connect with nature, encourages a fresh perspective on our surroundings, fostering an appreciation for every facet of the natural world.

During this specific walk, the spotlight will be on the identification, history and uses of a variety of wild plants and fungi. Early spring serves as an ideal starting point for beginners, as wild greens emerge from their winter slumber, brimming with stored sugars that kickstart their growth. This opportune moment allows participants to savour a range of wild foods unique to this early season, offering a delightful sampling experience.

Feel the pulse of nature as you get up close and personal, enhancing your understanding of the intricate ecosystems surrounding us. Some species we expect to encounter include Jack by the Hedge, Wood Ear Mushrooms, Bramble Buds, Scarlet Elf Cup Mushrooms, Cleavers, Sorrel, Hogweed, and Yarrow.

This is a circular walk that commences and concludes at the Cowdray Farm Shop overflow car park, winding through undulating terrain and lasting approximately 2.5 hours.

Please be sure to wear footwear suitable for the varying terrain, ensuring a comfortable and enjoyable foraging experience. Join us on this adventure, where every step brings you closer to the heart of nature’s bounty.
