During this specific walk, the spotlight will be on the identification, history and uses of a variety of wild plants and fungi. Early spring serves as an ideal starting point for beginners, as wild greens emerge from their winter slumber, brimming with stored sugars that kickstart their growth. This opportune moment allows participants to savour a range of wild foods unique to this early season, offering a delightful sampling experience.
Feel the pulse of nature as you get up close and personal, enhancing your understanding of the intricate ecosystems surrounding us. Some species we expect to encounter include Jack by the Hedge, Wood Ear Mushrooms, Bramble Buds, Scarlet Elf Cup Mushrooms, Cleavers, Sorrel, Hogweed, and Yarrow.
This is a circular walk that commences and concludes at the Cowdray Farm Shop overflow car park, winding through undulating terrain and lasting approximately 2.5 hours.
